With every city there lies many challenges.  As your Mayor, I would consider it my personal challenge to confront the issues you care about most.  I have listed just a few of the concerns Richmond faces that must be addressed to maintain a healthy city.

The only choice we have is to find solutions.  How do we find solutions to our challenges?  We find them together.

The appropriate partnerships within the city will play a huge role in solving these problems:

• OUR KIDS
  
  I believe you can measure how well a community is doing by how well its’ youth are doing.  When we improve and help our kids, we will improve and help Richmond.
  
  At our present state, if we graduated every student, Richmond would not be ready for the success because we could  not offer
  them jobs.
  
  We need to give our kids of Richmond a reason to stay.  This is done by giving them positive childhood memories, great college education and competitive paying jobs.
  
  

• OUR IMAGE
  
  How we project our image in the future will play a huge role in attracting the successful elements needed for our city.
  
  What type of image must we portray?  We must portray a professional image....a confident image....a competitive image.
  
  

• OUR JOBS
  
  This includes businesses present and future and past businesses that have left us with empty buildings.
  

• OUR CITY SAFETY
  
  Crime control and Emergency Preparedness.
  
  
•  OUR CITY BUDGET
  
  We must be financially responsible and accountable.
  
  We must address new  revenue options!
  
  We must preserve and improve the benefits associated with owning Richmond Power & Light...now...and in the future.
